ELECTRONIC BALL DEFORMETER

Measurement of dimensional variations of crack

To appreciate the change in pathological phenomena of mechanical nature concerning an entire construction or building, crack deformation must be measured.

The ball deformeter, a measurement instrument perfected by the CEBTP can be used to follow preciselythe positive and negative dimensional variations with time, inmaterials such as concrete, rock, masonry and metal structures, within a range of 1.5 mm on a measurement base of 200 mm.

MEASUREMENT PRINCIPLE :

The measurement principle consists of comparing the length of the measurement base with that of the invariable standard bar.

The measurement base is formed with two 6 mm balls glued onto the surface to be controlled, 200 mm apart, and positioned with a rode.

Readings are taken on the comparator, the instrument placed in turn on the standard bar and on the measurement base.

COMPARATOR CHARACTERISTICS :

  • 6 digit LCD display,
  • Reading : 0.001 mm (value of one digit : 0.001 mm), ,
  • Accuracy : 0.003 mm,
  • Reset with the sensor in any position,
  • INC (incremental) or ABS (absolute) measurement,
  • Dial turns through 360° for easy reading,
  • Reversal of measurement direction (+ or -),
  • Pre-selection function,
  • Data output for communication with microcomputers via RS 232 C interface.
  • Powered by two SR44 batteries.
